Courtney has a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Courtney worked for 2 years at the British Institute for Brain Injured Children in Somerset, England as a Developmental Therapist providing Assessment and Family based Treatment programs for children with brain injuries and/or developmental disabilities such as Autism, Asperger’s, Cerebral Palsy and genetic syndromes. Courtney has spent the last 6 years working as a Special Needs & Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician for Child & Youth Mental Health in B.C. Her specialty service areas include providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety & depression and specifically for children on the Autism Spectrum. She also has extensive experience facilitating Self-Regulation Groups for children either on the Autism Spectrum or with significant difficulties with their social & emotional regulation. Specialty training has been received from Michelle Garcia Winner (facilitating Self-Regulation Groups), Dr. Bruce Perry (Developmental Trauma), Stanley Greenspan (DIR Floortime Model) and Play Based Attachment interventions. Courtney co-founded Painted Lighthouse Counselling & Consulting Inc. with Rebecca in 2010.
Is on empowering the families to have the skills to help their children reach developmental milestones and to help children develop tools to deal with anxiety and develop their own social & emotional regulation skills. The focus is often on strengthening the bond between parent and child and improving communication skills.
